A meeting on the Crystal Walls in the Daone Valley 

La Sportiva International Ice Meeting Pareti di Cristallo: from 16th to 25th January 2009  the unmissable meeting for those who love ice climbing.


While the World Cup takes place, numerous ice climbers will take part in the 10th edition of the International Ice Meeting Pareti di Cristallo. In 2009 the main sponsor will be the company La Sportiva (Trentino). The event organized by Comitato Pareti di Cristallo in the Daone Valley from 16th to 25th January is a true ice climbing stage suitable for everyone. It will take place in a valley close to Adamello Brenta Natural Park, at the same time of the Ice Master World Cup 2009.

In winter the 136 icefalls in the Daone Valley transform into true crystals walls, hence the name of the classic meet which dates back to 1989. Ice climbers, armed with crampons and ice axes, encounter a severe technical test here, overcoming the steep walls and the biting cold.
The Leitmotif of this meeting is "safety and fun". Put in other words, get to know the winter environment and its inherent dangers, and keep up to date with the latest safety techniques.
The Friends of Arco (Trentino) Mountain Guides will organise days out during the event:
- Short snowshoe walks through the woods
- Ice climbing on icefalls and on artificial icewalls
- Winter avalanche course with the A.I.NE.VE experts: know about avalanches to avoid them, know what to do in the case of an emergency
- The Friends of Arco Mountain Guides' Info point will provide you with all the information you require for outdoor acitivites in the valley during the meeting
- Ice climbing equipment can be borrowed free of charge

From Friday 16th January 2009 at 15.00 all participants will be welcomed at the Commitee of Pareti di Cristallo office.
From Friday 16th January on, ice climbing lessons will take place on a series of different icefalls, to learn about the secrets of ice climbing, its techniques and ascents of all grades.

All the necessary equipment for climbing will be available thanks to the help of companies such as: La Sportiva, Grivel, Montura, Garmont, Cocona, eVent, Climbing Technology.

All outdoor activities will be organised by the Mountain Guides Friends of Arco
