ICE MEETING HAS BEEN SUSPENDED- DANGEROUS

All the activities of the ice meeting Pareti di Cristallo 2008 have been suspended.

The dangerous conditions of the snow blanket at the high altitudes and the bad conditions of the waterfalls, force the organizers to decide to suspend the meeting unwillingly.

All the activities scheduled and the courses organized for the 10th edition of the Ice meeting Pareti di Cristallo, have been suspended till next updating because of the heavy snowfalls at the high altitudes in the last days and the high temperatures that have completely unfrozen the ice waterfalls.

The organizing committee and Mauro Girardi, Mountain Guide responsible for the courses, after having controlled the lateral valleys and having searched by helicopter the slopes above the five areas chosen for the meeting, have decided to suspend all the activities of Ice Meeting.

The unsteady and dangerous snow blanket and the high temperatures do not allow to guarantee the security minimal standards that this kind of sport needs.

We take this decision unwillingly "argues the President Romolo Ghezzi", but our aim is, and has always been, to make people aware and to make new "enthusiasts" discover ice climbing, but the maximum safety is the most important thing of all.

In this moment, nature "does not agree" with our purpose, our experience and the advice of the mountain guides that searched the whole area in the last days, suggest to suspend all the activities scheduled.

People can however climb on the snow wall near the competition artificial structure and go snowshoeing with our experts to discover the Valley, assisted by the mountain guide Friends of Arco.
