Ice meeting, a great success!

HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS TOOK PART IN THE PARALLEL EVENTS OF THE 9TH EDITION OF THE ICE MASTER

Great success for the Ice Meeting, the event associated to the 9th edition of the Ice Master of Romolo Ghezzi.

More than 100 people took part in the Ice Test Days, an initiative addressed to the professional and amateur ice climbers, that with the help of the mountain guides, could improve their ability on the ice wall built for the competition on the several natural waterfalls of the Daone Valley.

The protagonists have also talked about the secret of the climbing and about the latest news regarding materials and equipment.

“The attendance at the Ice Test Days was great- says Mauro Girardi, the organizer - especially for the contribution of the professional ice climbers who have supported this interesting experience. We’ve climbed with them 20-30 meters high iced waterfalls set in Daone Valley, in a virgin area. There are also higher waterfalls (50-100 metres), but we decided to play on middle measures”.

It has been important and useful to organize a workshop on security, counting the help of Gianluca Tognoni (meteorology expert), who has informed us about avalanches and focused on prevention.

“Junior Ice Park” put up good results thanks to the involvement of hundreds of children and three local schools. This is an area addressed to the youngest with lot of games and activities to get acquainted with mountain and managed in complete safety with professional guides. A place where children and kids could learn the real meaning of working and living in the mountains. Music, entertainment on the snow and a big inflatable have been the background of the competition and this underlines the organizers attention to the youngest, social aggregation and the territorial development.

The activities took place in five thematic areas which deepened several aspects of the mountain, sometimes conceived as an amusement, some others as a way to learn how to respect the nature.

Finally “ Discovering Daone Valley with the snowshoes”, has been a non-competitive walk with the snowshoes discovering the hidden wonders of the local “malga”, to discover the magic of such a beautiful place by night.
